Data provenance standard

Every material datapoint in EveryIntel can answer three questions: where did it come from, when was it known, and has it changed since?

Recorded with every observation

Entity and metric
What the value describes, e.g. Gold futures · non-commercial long.
Value and unit
Stored exactly as published, with its unit.
Period
The date or period the value refers to (effective date).
Source and reference
The publisher, dataset and the exact URL or record identifier.
Observed at
When EveryIntel retrieved the value.
Released at
When the publisher released it, where the source states this.
Collector and version
Which collector and parser version produced the record, and in which run.
Verification status and confidence
How the value was checked, and a 0–1 confidence.
Data class and redistribution
The rights classification inherited from the source licence.
Evidence
A pointer to the raw evidence snapshot, where one is kept.
Revision
Revision number, the record it supersedes and the previous value.
Estimate flag
Whether the value is an estimate rather than a published fact.

Verification status

Observed
Recorded directly from the source as published.
Verified
Recorded and passed an independent consistency or cross-source check.
Estimated
A modelled or estimated value; never presented as published fact.
Inferred
Derived deterministically from observations (for example, the lowest advertised price).
AI analysis
Produced by an AI model. Kept separate from observations and never stored as fact.
Needs review
Collected but awaiting human confirmation.

Rights classification

Public
Public-domain or openly licensed data that may be redistributed.
Licensed
Obtained under a licence; use and redistribution follow its terms.
Proprietary
Created by EveryIntel.
Derived
Calculated by EveryIntel from other data; inherits upstream restrictions.
Customer private
Supplied by a customer; never shared.
Restricted
Not available for redistribution.
Rights under review
Rights not yet reviewed. May be reported editorially with attribution, but cannot be packaged into any commercial product.

Guarantees enforced by the database

  • Stored observation values cannot be updated or deleted; revisions are new records.
  • A value flagged as an estimate cannot carry the Verified status.
  • AI-generated findings cannot be classed as fact.
  • Datasets containing rights-unknown, restricted or customer-private data cannot be marked commercially eligible.
  • The audit log is append-only.

Sources we do not use

EveryIntel does not collect stolen, leaked, hacked or confidential information, material non-public information, credentials, or private personal records. Sources with questionable rights are flagged for compliance review before use.
